Transition

Red House Academy is a growing academy in Sunderland. It is our responsibility to ensure that every student has the best possible education. We achieve this by having exceptionally high expectations of teaching staff and students as well as focusing on the importance of always striving to do better.

By choosing Red House Academy, parents can be certain they are selecting the best school for their child; one where they will not only succeed academically, but will benefit from a wide range of extra-curricular enrichment activities. As a student, you will be coming to a school that has a stimulating and exciting environment – where you will achieve your potential and have the time of your life.

Red House Academy is committed to a child centred Transition process in which the individual needs of students are identified and supported. In order to achieve this we work in close collaboration with our partner primary schools to share information and best practice.

At Red House Academy, we have a dedicated team of pastoral specialists who combine a child centred and caring ethos with many years of experience supporting young people. Each year group has a Learning Manager, a non-teaching member of staff whose role is dedicated to making sure that children are supported. The pastoral team ensure that students have the best possible transition from Year 6 into Year 7. Moving to secondary school is an exciting time in a child’s life but it can also lead to anxieties for both children and parents. At Red House we offer a number of support mechanisms so that students can start Year 7 feeling happy and confident about their future.

Red House Academy is a member of the Northern Education Trust.
We constantly focus on standards as we understand outcomes are paramount. Our decision making is driven entirely by what is best for children. By doing this we enhance the life chances of the children and young people in our care.
